Decreases Stress and Anxiety

Yoga can greatly improve mental health. Studies have shown that yoga decreases the secretion of cortisol (the stress hormone). Yoga decreases stress, anxiety, and may help fight depression.

Improves Sleep

This study showed that yoga helps people fall asleep faster. As students become more aware of their bodies, they learn to consciously relax tension in their muscles. There are also many benefits to the nervous system that help students shift from "fight or flight" mode into "rest and digest".

Improves Flexibility and Balance

Research shows that yoga increases flexibility and balance, which can help prevent falls and injuries. Yoga helps to improve range of motion, making it more likely that students can remain physically active over time.

Yoga is a holistic approach.

We take personal transformation seriously. And thankfully the ancient yogis did too, and outlined a comprehensive system to realize optimal health on the physical, mental, and spiritual levels. Yoga is an eight-limbed system, and postures (or Asana) is only one of the eight limbs. So in addition to the physical exercise part of Yoga, we also teach the spiritual philosophies and ethical framework that makes the system so powerful. This information is universal, meaning it describes basic laws of nature that apply to everyone. We strive to make the teachings accessible to all, regardless of faith or belief system.

HYC incorporates the daily lifestyle routines from Ayurveda, making this program a comprehensive and transformational health program.  

Our Approach 

There are so many different styles of yoga classes out there these days, and many are very fitness oriented, and driven by a desire to make the body look better. I wanted to offer something different, a program that would help students not just improve the health of their physical bodies, but also help them feel more freedom and experience more fun and creativity in their daily lives.
